Update!
All dates and times are approximate and subject to Africa. Now that The Odyssey Expedition has been successfully completed, in the spirit of the adventure I will be overlanding it back my home town of Liverpool from Juba, South Sudan.

Be warned – these dates could change at any time without warning!! But if you’re going to be in any of these places around the same time as me and you feel an overwhelming compulsion to buy me a drink(!), please get in touch via my ‘Contact‘ page.
If you’re in Hong Kong for a day or more you should take the ferry over to Macau, it’s obviously not a country for the purposes of the Odyssey but it’s always nice to add a territory right?
I’m thinkin’ what you’re thinkin’! Probably head over there on Monday.
Why would you go back to Singapore between Colombo and Mauritius? That doesn’t seem very logical. Also, I don’t see the Fortress Seychelles on this list. Don’t tell me you’ve given up on them!
That’s only if I can’t get a direct ship to Madagascar, it may be quicker to return to Singapore. And here’s where I’m planning to go in The Seychelles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldabra – don’t think anyone’s going to be there to buy me a drink in the pub!!
Hahaha, even WikiTravel doesn’t have any info about Aldabra. That’s when you know you’re WAY off the beaten path.
This would be a lot easier if you would just join up with the Somalian pirates.
Buy an eye patch and send out some resumes.
Good thinking by John.
What route are you taking from Hong Kong to Singapore? I’ll be in Bangkok but not until May 19-22, so you’ll probably be gone.
I suppose I could try to swing by Colombo. I’ve never been to Sri Lanka and need to add it to my own country list.
Of course, I’d just fly there, I’m not a total weirdo.
HK > China > Laos > Thailand > Malaysia > Singapore. But yeah, I’m going to miss you – I hope to be in Singapore this time next week.
Dude,
You do appear to have missed off the Seychelles.
Also what is with the lap of honour shit? Don’t BA do a direct flight from South Sudan?
I’d be on that thing quicker than a fat lass on chips.
I think I understand the reason for the lap of honour. He’s going to try to drum up publicity in the UK upon his return and get interviewed on TV and whatnot. He has a better chance of that if he has just returned by road/boat like a true adventurer, rather than wandering off a plane at Terminal 5.
Of course, he’ll need a new hat first, because no one’s going to interview an adventurer without a hat.
I’ve got a new hat, gavinmac is spot on about publicity and where I plan to go in the Seychelles is uninhabited: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldabra. Yes I know I need permission. And a yacht.
Muchos jealous of your journey. If you need a bed for the night in Sing we’ll have a spare room until the 18th-ish. Boyf and I also used to live in the Maldives so can offer any knowledge or contacts that we have over there.
Your next project..
To be on the top of this list

w0rd!
I think you’ve made a mistake… Dodoma is in Tanzania not Kenya.
Ha! You’re right… it’s the capital an’ all! Just making sure you’re paying attention 😉
Hate to be Particular again, but I think you’ve missed an ‘a’ in Nairobi. Sorry! 😉
If they are still operating (website is from 2005), this
http://www.scandinaviagroup.com/Scandinavia%20Express/scandinavia_express_routemap_zambia_lusakakamp.html
would be a day shorter than the Mwanza shortcut.
I’m not sure why Google sent me there, maybe because I’m in Scandinavia …
Apparently there is also a direct bus from Johannesburg to Lusaka.

BTW, what’s Dublin doing in your itinerary??
Hey Roland,
Thanks. Scandinavia buses are sadly no longer with us, but there are other companies that run the same routes at the same times, so the plan should be roughly the same. As you can see, I’ve changed my itinerary so that I now go via Dar es Salaam, as it is tarmac all the way and I won’t have to change buses so often.
DUBLIN is on my itinerary because I want to return to Liverpool on a ship. The Irish ferry comes alongside the great Liver Building in my hometown and I’m sure you’ll agree it’ll be a most appropriate means of arrival back into the UK!
