Day 168: Take A Deep Breath…

Woke up, excited and invigorated. The Odyssey is back on the road!! All I have to do is pay the shipping guys and get my passport back. LET’S GO!!!!

I grabbed a bite to eat at Café Sophia and headed over to the office to meet Mito. Then we went to see the shipping guys, got a letter off them saying they wished to take the pirogue and were giving me passage, then went to see Maria the Lawyer, got a letter requesting (demanding) that they let me take the boat, went to the port office, got told to come back with a copy of the boat’s ownership documents, went back to Mito’s office, got in touch with the fishermen and got them to fax the ownership documents over to Maria, made a number of calls to my STUPID bank who have locked my telephone banking service, got Mandy to transfer the money instead (she is, after all, a total legend) just in time before the banking day was over, then Mito and I stuffed lunch in our gobs as quick as we could, went back to Maria’s, picked up the fax from the fishermen, headed back to the port office, got all the papers stamped and signed and then…

And then…

And then…

Mito had a conversation in Portuguese with the Captain of the Port. The Captain of the Port has decided in his infinite wisdom not to let the cargo boat Micau leave until Friday.

Why? I do not know.

Crushed.

Utterly crushed.

I checked back into my sordid little hotel. I hate this place.

Hang on, Friday was two days ago, and according to Twitter you’re still in C.V.!
    Shit.

What has happened to the fishermen? Can they also go on the Micau? Or do they get their own vessel back?
